In DevOps philosophy `tools` have forever been given less importance than `processes` and focus has been on building tool in-house based on specific requirements.
In our practical experience we have seen so many companies lose precious time because their DevOps tool couldn’t support the changes in processes that is why we believe while processes are important, right tools help you adopt right processes collaboratively and quickly. They allow the DevOps team to operate at a higher level of abstraction wherein they can be a partner of development and QA team in building competitive advantage for the company and not just struggling with day to day mundane tasks.
We tend to think of it like a declarative vs imperative approach to problem solving, instead of focusing on how (writing scripts), focus on what with the right mix of UI interaction and yaml configurations. While tools out there focus on imperative approach we believe that declarative approach is the right approach to improve productivity and Devtron is our belief of how DevOps team would have built their system if they had all the time and resources in the world.
